I am not sure if mobile estate planning makes you think I am driving around playing music like an ice-cream truck, hoping to attract you by playing a recognizable song and offering a frozen treat. Or, perhaps mobile estate planning conjures up visions of a library bookmobile visiting your neighborhood, but that is not quite how it works. “Mobile” Estate Planning means I come to you. I work with you to plan what happens to your assets upon death, and also to figure out how to get you from here to there – called end of life planning, and I meet with you where you are.
I started mobile estate planning when I first struck out on my own in private practice. At that time, I worked almost exclusively with wartime veterans, planning for their long term care and helping them to qualify for assistance from the Veterans Administration (VA). The VA has a benefit for wartime veterans that helps to pay for long term care when they need assistance with their daily life, but only if strict asset and income requirements are met. Many of my clients needed asset protection planning to qualify for the VA benefit, so I helped them, and that is where I got my start.
Meeting People Where they are – Such a Time Saver!
These veterans generally lived in independent living communities, assisted living, or skilled nursing facilities. Their health limited their ability to travel to an office to see me. I decided it would be better to go see them, rather than wait for them to come see me. There is a community about 5 minutes from my office. I found that I could drive to the community, meet with a client, and be back to my office, so that the whole trip took an hour and 15 minutes, or an hour and a half. If I had a client come from the community to me, they would need to wait for transportation to pick them up, travel the time to my office, make their way up to the 4th floor, and then we could meet. This took more time just to get to me than for me to go see them, and that was for a community only 5 minutes away…imagine the ordeal for people who lived farther away!
Going to See Everyone
So, as I served people who lived in the retirement communities, I realized that I could see people all over the city, and that was kind of fun. I did not need to sit in my office and hope someone who lived close by would come by and visit me at my office, but rather I could travel all around the city to see people where they were. I enjoy being out and about the entire Denver Metro Area, traveling to see people where they are, and being able to assist all sorts of different clients.
Convenience for Clients and Fun for Me
I even found office space that has multiple locations around the Denver Metro area, extending across the entire front range. Some people are not comfortable with me coming to visit them at their house, so we can find the closest office location to where they are and meet at that office. I enjoy being mobile, meeting with clients close to where they are, and making the process a little bit less inconvenient for scheduling purposes. Nobody likes to drive too far, and certain times of the day are not fun to be on the road – looking at you, Rush Hour! By being a mobile attorney, I am able to help people at a time and place that is convenient to them. To me, this is a better way to help with estate planning needs rather than have them come see me where I am at any given moment.
Let Me Come See You, and See How I Can Help!
Would you like to see what it is like to have an attorney come to you? Let’s set up a time to meet where you are, and talk about how I might be able to help. Schedule an appointment, and I’ll come to see you!

WE HAVE A SIMPLE WILL BUT WE NEED TO UP-DATE IT AS OUR CHILDREN ARE NOW GROWN ADULTS AND OUR FAMILY SITUATIONS HAVE CHANGED. DO YOU PROVIDE THAT SERVICE OF UP-DATING OUR WILL?
